The shock waves of the First World War also left their mark on the art world. An important group of artists from all over the world find it morally reprehensible to continue to follow the refined tendencies of the fin de siècle. They are looking for a language that is closer to everyday life. Folk music is due for a revival, but the so-called' music from the street' is gaining momentum: popular genres like ragtime or tango are a dream new source of inspiration for Igor Stravinsky and other composers. And so classical music also enters the 'roaring twenties'.
