At the end of September, Het Collectief will travel to Poland for a very special concert. We have been invited to play Olivier Messiaen's 'Quatuor pour la fin du temps' at the place where the work was composed and performed for the first time, namely in the town of Zgorzelec. During the Second World War Messiaen was imprisoned there in the prisoner of war camp Stalag VIIIa.
Afterwards we travel on to the Baltic coast for two concerts in Liepaja and Klaipeda. In addition to a second performance of Messiaen's 'Quatuor', we present work by Morton Feldman and Pierre Boulez. From the latter we play the 'Dialogue de l'ombre double': a revolutionary work in which a solo clarinet enters into a conversation with its own electronic shadow…
